６年間世話になった先生に礼を言って欲しいとの頼みもあり、もうこのような席に出るチャンスもないと思い下の娘の卒業式に家内と参加した。大学全体の卒業式はでずに、国指定の重要文化財である公会堂で催された学部だけの式に行った。家族席には結構沢山の父兄が来られていた。４０年以上前の自分の卒業式もよく覚えていないが、親が参加するようなことはなかったと思う。こんなに親が出席するようになったのはいつ頃からだろうか。女性が多い学部のせいもあるが、７０％が袴、２０％が振り袖、１０％がスーツといった感じである。
